NightWatch

The steady buzz of an industrial wall clock echoed over the marble floors of the museum, vaulting up by wall and column to the vast ceiling high above. The Guardspony yawned, running his flashlight over another exhibit. Jewels sparkled back, even the dull electric light enough to briefly bring them to life in their cases, gleaming from gold and silver fittings.

Everything seemed to be in place. The Guard moved on, daydreaming (or was it night dreaming now?) about his date. More like a collision at first; the other pony had knocked into him in a store, coming around a corner, sending everything in his basket flying. But as they picked up the scattered items they had started talking. As they walked, through the checkout and out of the store, they had kept talking, all the way to a cafe a few blocks away. It had gone well, the other pony had been funny, mischievous, oddly charming. And cute. The Guard smiled. Well, handsome maybe. He had refused to give his name, but said he would, the next time they met. The Guard gave a happy smile, then frowned slightly. He enjoyed running the memory of the date through his mind, but every time he did it felt like there was a patch missing. The Handsome Pony had said something important, but he couldn't remember what. It was like listening to people talk on the other side of a wall; almost there, but just out of reach.

He snapped out of his pondering suddenly. There was pony in front of the Jewelry exhibit, facing away from him, their figure dark against the sparkling glass. The Guardpony stepped forward, hoof briefly checking his taser. "Hey, you can't be back here! Don't mo-"

Without turning, the other pony spoke, cool and clear in the dim room.

"Dead Drop."

The guard took a step closer, cautiously, giving the intruder a confused look. "What are you babbling abou-"

It hit him all at once, a flash of knowing, remembering. Suddenly, he knew the words the handsome pony had said to him. All of them. And as they rushed through his mind, the last ones stuck, playing over and over on repeat. All he could manage was an "Oh..." before the flashlight tumbled from his grasp, body shivering as waves of sensation ran through it. Pleasure. Excitement. Tumbling, falling, twisting. And then blank. Warm, wonderful blank. The Handsome Pony's words tumbled out of his mouth, soft and even, and he followed them, a fish on a hook.

The intruder turned, leaving the bag of jewels on the floor a moment to lean into the light, revealing a face the guard would have recognized if he could still care. The Handsome Pony stepped forward, smiling mischievously as he watched the dazed guard softly mutter the mantra he had slipped into his mind at the cafe, the words ensuring he would stay nice and deep for as long as this took.

"My name is Sabot." The Handsome Pony said, gently unbuttoning the helpless guard's uniform. "It's good to meet you again."
